ABOUT THE HORSE

“Hondo” is a cool colored palomino gelding with a silver mane and tail standing 15.1 hh with a ton of substance in his broad shoulders and hind end. This guy is a son of $3.8 million sire, Shine Chic Shine. Hondo is such a fun, handy broke horse to have in the barn. His ability to ride both on a loose rein and then be gathered up to get work done is admirable.  

Hondo is one smooth moving loper! This guy can lope nice and slow with a presence. Hondo will place his head anywhere you ask whether it's low, wither level, or higher up. We love the adaptability this gelding has! We have used him to gather cattle, sort in the alley, and he can really hold one in the pens.  

Hondo has been ridden by experienced and non-experienced adults and children. His ability to give his rider confidence is special. In the arena, Hondo will go through an obstacle course including going over a bridge, walking through a tarp, and crossing logs. We really enjoy riding this guy in English tack and taking him over small jumps. Hondo is very fancy broke with his spins, easy lead changes, and good stops. He will side-pass, pull logs, and anything in-between.
